Overview

The Specialty Care Field Medical, Director is responsible for providing therapeutic area/product expertise for the designated therapeutic area across external medical stakeholders in an assigned territory in the United States. The role involves developing and executing Medical strategies, maintaining knowledge of the relevant disease states and Pfizer medicines, and collaborating with Pfizer Medical Affairs and other stakeholders to advance medical objectives while prioritizing patient care.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute independent Medical strategies and engagements for external medical stakeholders within a territory, coordinating with Pfizer colleagues as needed to achieve Medical objectives.
• Maintain knowledge of relevant TA/disease states and Pfizer medicines, providing therapeutic information to internal and external stakeholders as required.
• Serve as a conduit and resource for Medical Information and external medical stakeholder insights, sharing information in accordance with Pfizer guidance.
• Understand the priorities of Pfizer Medical Affairs to contribute toMedical educational content strategy and execute aligned Field Medical tactics.
• Maintain effective scientific communication and collaboration among headquarters Medical colleagues, Medical Information, and Field Medical colleagues across channels (live, virtual, written, and telephonic).
• Optimize patient care in Medical communications and deliverables, incorporating health literacy and cultural awareness principles to keep patients as the focus.
• Educate external medical stakeholders based on patient care gaps to improve understanding of disease state and guideline-based care.
• Achieve leadership-defined expectations regarding the number of external medical stakeholders engaged.
• Deliver approved medical content about Pfizer medicines and relevant topics in the designated therapeutic area.
• Identify and seek medical scientific engagement from priority external medical stakeholder segments; provide truthful, accurate information in response to unsolicited medical requests in compliance with Pfizer guidelines.
• Lead advisory boards (e.g., BRF, Vendor) with manager oversight; manage inbound queries via established triage processes.
• Collaborate with US and Global Medical Affairs to identify potential sites for Pfizer-sponsored clinical trials and to engage under-represented patient populations.
• Serve as a Medical resource to HQ Medical Affairs, Field Medical colleagues, and external investigators; provide Medical support throughout Investigator Sponsored Research (ISR).
• Cultivate therapeutic area expertise, including familiarity with latest congress data and disease state literature; demonstrateAsset leadership and understand study design, methodology, data analysis, and interpretation for external stakeholders.
• Provide strong leadership at the territory level; engage with Patient Advocacy Groups as appropriate and deliver insights on local structures and needs.
• Represent Pfizer Medical Affairs leadership with clinical/professional associations and societies; maintain professional standards in all interactions.
• Participate in onboarding, mentorship, and special projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a health science required; PharmD, PhD, or equivalent terminal doctoral degree (e.g., DNP, DPT) highly preferred.
• Relevant experience: PharmD/PhD with 5+ years; MBA/MSc with 7+ years; BA/BSc with 8+ years.
• Subject matter expert recognized among internal and external stakeholders; excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience managing a high volume of remote projects, prioritizing, and delivering with good judgment in a continuous improvement environment.
• Ability to work in a matrixed, multi-disciplinary team and manage change in a dynamic external health care environment.
• Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and the ability to influence peers and create business impact.
• Self-starter with accountability and urgency; strong performance and engagement in a cross-functional setting.
• Proficiency in adopting and utilizing digital tools for medical engagement and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with internal/external SOPs/Rules/Regulations related to Pfizer/external medical stakeholder interactions.
• Previous Field Medical experience.

Non-Standard Work Schedule, Travel or Environment

• Operate a Pfizer company car and travel 40-50% of the time; required to attend meetings nationwide and be near an airline hub.
• Valid US driver's license with compliant driving record; DUI/DWI within the past 7 years may disqualify.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary ranges from $176,600 to $294,300. Eligible for Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a target bonus of 20% of base salary and eligibility for long-term incentive programs. Benefits include 401(k) with company matching, retirement contributions, paid time off, parental and medical leave, and comprehensive health benefits. Salary may vary by location. This role is posted in multiple locations; relocation may be available based on business needs.
