POSITION OVERVIEW
The Quarterbacks/Wide Receivers Coach is responsible for the complete development, accountability, preparation, and performance of the quarterbacks and wide receivers within the football program. This position is responsible for teaching offensive fundamentals, position-specific techniques, scheme execution, player development, recruiting, academic accountability, and operational responsibilities while ensuring all players within the position groups meet the standards and expectations of Point University Football.

The Quarterbacks/Wide Receivers Coach serves as a direct extension of the Offensive Coordinator andis responsible for ensuring quarterbacks and receivers execute the offensive system with discipline, consistency, communication, and attention to detail. The position is expected to develop players athletically, academically, behaviorally, and personally while reinforcing the culture and standards of the football program.

PRIMARY DUTIES & ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach and develop all quarterback and wide receiver fundamentals, techniques, assignments, and responsibilities.
  • Conduct daily individual periods and position meetings for quarterbacks and wide receivers.
  • Develop quarterbacks in leadership, communication, decision-making, ball security, situational awareness, and offensive command
  • Develop wide receivers in route running, releases, blocking, ball skills, coverage recognition, and offensive execution.
  • Ensure quarterbacks and wide receivers understand offensive concepts, adjustments, alignments, motions, formations, and responsibilities.
  • Conduct film sessions and teach players how to evaluate their own performance.
  • Evaluate player performance daily and provide immediate correction and feedback.
  • Assist the Offensive Coordinator with game planning, opponent breakdown, scouting reports, and offensive adjustments.
  • Maintain discipline, accountability, effort, and preparation standards within the position groups.
  • Monitor player development and communicate progress, concerns, and recommendations to the Offensive Coordinator.
  • Assist in evaluating personnel and making recommendations regarding depth chart decisions.
  • Ensure position meetings, drills, and communication are organized and efficient.
  • Assist in the installation of offensive concepts and ensure position group execution aligns with offensive philosophy.
  • Contribute to offensive staff discussions regarding personnel, strategy, and weekly preparation.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by the Offensive Coordinator or Head Football Coach.

ACADEMIC RESPONSIBILITIES (PRIMARY EXECUTION ROLE)
  • Conduct regular class checks for all quarterbacks and wide receivers.
  • Monitor and enforce study hall attendance and participation.
  • Maintain awareness of academic performance, eligibility status, and classroom accountability for all players in assigned position groups.
  • Track attendance, academic progress, and any concerns related to academic accountability.
  • Identify at-risk student-athletes and report concerns immediately to the Academic Coordinator.
  • Enforce consequences for missed class checks, study hall absences, and academic issues.
  • Communicate academic expectations clearly to all quarterbacks and wide receivers.
  • Reinforce the importance of academic discipline as part of overall player development.
  • Follow all academic directives provided by the Academic Coordinator and General Manager.
  • Ensure academic responsibilities are treated with the same importance as football responsibilities.

OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with daily field setup and breakdown, ensuring all assigned equipment and areas are prepared.
  • Participate in all team travel, including bus rides, hotel stays, team meals, and football-related functions.
  • Conduct room checks during travel and enforce curfew and lights-out expectations.
  • Assist with equipment responsibilities, including laundry, gear distribution, and gear collection when assigned.
  • Support game day operations, including offensive communication, substitutions, sideline organization, and player management.
  • Assist in monitoring field house cleanliness, locker room standards, and facility organization.
  • Support loading and unloading equipment for practices, games, and travel.
  • Assist with the transportation of football equipment or materials when assigned.
  • Participate in weight room sessions and assist in monitoring player attendance and effort.
  • Attend team chapel and all required football program functions.
  • Support protein shake distribution and recovery operations when assigned.
  • Participate in and assist with organizing Skull Sessions and player development meetings.
  • Assist with receiving and organizing football-related deliveries when assigned.
  • Ensure all assigned operational duties are completed without reminders.

RECRUITING RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
  • Evaluate prospective quarterbacks and wide receivers based on program needs and offensive system fit.
  • Maintain consistent communication with assigned recruits through calls, texts, messages, and virtual meetings.
  • Complete all assigned recruiting calls, evaluations, and follow-up communication requirements.
  • Build and maintain recruiting relationships with high school coaches, junior college coaches, trainers, and prospects.
  • Participate in recruiting visits, official visits, camps, showcases, and recruiting events.
  • Assist in identifying quarterbacks and receivers who fit the athletic, academic, and cultural standards of Point University Football.
  • Represent the football program professionally in all recruiting interactions.
  • Assist in organizing and executing recruiting visits when assigned.
  • Maintain awareness of recruiting board status and roster needs within assigned position groups.
  • Travel for recruiting purposes when assigned.
  • Meet recruiting expectations established by the Head Football Coach and Offensive Coordinator.
  • Evaluate quarterback leadership traits, football intelligence, and character as part of the recruiting process.

  • Avoid any behavior or communication that negatively impacts team culture.
  • Address disagreements privately and maintain unity publicly within the coaching staff.
  • Model the leadership, discipline, and accountability expected from quarterbacks and offensive leaders.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT EXPECTATIONS
  • Attend all required staff meetings, offensive meetings, and football program meetings.
  • Participate in coaching clinics, quarterback development clinics, receiver development clinics, and professional growth opportunities.
  • Continue to study quarterback play, passing game concepts, route development, offensive systems, and teaching methodologies.
  • Maintain knowledge of football rules, compliance requirements, and institutional expectations.
  • Seek continuous improvement in coaching ability, communication, leadership, and organization.
  • Be open to feedback and willing to adjust for improvement.
  • Develop players athletically, academically, behaviorally, and personally.
  • Continue to study leadership development strategies specific to quarterback development and offensive culture.

WORK RELATIONSHIPS
The Quarterbacks / Wide Receivers Coach reports directly to the Offensive Coordinator and ultimately to the Head Football Coach. This position works closely with offensive staff members, graduate assistants, recruiting personnel, the Academic Coordinator, and administrative staff. The Quarterbacks/Wide Receivers Coach interacts daily with student-athletes and is responsible for maintaining communication regarding player development, recruiting, academic performance, and program expectations.

This position plays a critical role in the development of the passing game and offensive leadership within Point University Football.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS OF THE POSITION
The Quarterbacks / Wide Receivers Coach is expected to execute all responsibilities at a high level with discipline, consistency, organization, and accountability. This position serves as a primary developer of offensive leadership and passing game execution within the football program. All duties must be performed in alignment with the culture, standards, and expectations of Point University Football.

The Quarterbacks/Wide Receivers Coach is responsible for ensuring quarterbacks and wide receivers consistently reflect the standards of the football program athletically, academically, behaviorally, and personally while contributing to the overall success of the offense and football program

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Previous collegiate playing or coaching experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of quarterback development, wide receiver play, offensive systems, and passing game concepts.
  • Ability to teach, develop, and evaluate student-athletes effectively.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining accountability.
  • Ability to build and maintain recruiting relationships.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record preferred or required based on institutional policy.
