Performance Responsibilities: Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance. Instructs all students and ensures each student's progress with as much individualization as possible. Plans/executes a balanced music program and organizes class time so that preparation, rehearsal and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time. Helps pupils grow in their enjoyment, appreciation, and performance of music through a variety of planned music experiences which include singing, moving to music, playing of instruments and listening. Maintains care/responsibility for school-owned music, musical instruments and equipment to prevent loss or abuse. Makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to instruments as required. Establishes a positive classroom climate and effectively manages music instruction within that environment. Plans effectively for instruction, using knowledge of subject matter as well as knowledge of the physical, emotional, and intellectual growth process of students. Selects music and music materials which are appropriate for teaching and performance, and which will contribute to the development of the student's understanding and appreciation of music. Evaluates effectively student progress in terms of the purposes of the course and grade taught. Maintains positive and supportive communication with other music teachers within the school district. Fulfills all responsibilities of paperwork such as materials and equipment inventory, purchase orders, report cards, attendance records, music library records, etc. Meet expectations according to the regular classroom teacher job description. Maintains prompt and professional communication with parents. Perform other duties as assigned.
Terms Of Employment: 190-day position. Salary based on WCBE approved salary schedule. Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Principal.
