A Parents as Teachers National Center (PATNC) certified parent educator provides the information, support, and encouragement that the parents need to help their child develop optimally during the crucial early years of life. This is done by providing education in the form of personal visits, group meetings, screenings, and linkages to a network of resources for parents and children. This position will also plan future program implementations based on feedback and program evaluations. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Possesses effective communication skills and is comfortable relating to strangers. Develops trusting relationships with parents as a model for parent-child relationships. Uses appropriate work-related behavior, dress and attitude toward fellow professionals.
