Adjunct Instructor For Chemistry
Columbus Technical College is seeking an individual to serve as an adjunct instructor for Chemistry. Under general supervision, this individual will prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction, and evaluate students' progress in attaining goals, objectives, and student learning outcomes. This position is on campus and requires day and evening instruction. This position is part-time/exempt.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivers effective individualized program and instruction to class members
- Ensures adherence to technical college and safety requirements in classrooms and labs by following established procedures
- Evaluate students' progress in attaining goals and objectives
- Follow state standards in developing course outlines, goals, and objectives
- Ensures consistency in syllabi, lesson plans, test, and other appropriate course work
- Request and maintain supplies, tools, and equipment
- Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports
- Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences and by reading professional literature
- Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students
- Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior.

- General Computer knowledge (Microsoft Office Products)
- Other job-related duties as assigned
Physical demands include:
- Responsibilities are typically performed in an office or classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for up to three (3) four (4) continuous hours at a time. The employee frequently lifts lightweight objects up to 25LBS. The exposure to dirt, dust, chemicals, fumes, and hazardous materials is possible in the laboratory environment. The ability to distinguish colors and finger dexterity is required.
Minimum qualifications include:
- A Master's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Chemistry
-OR-
- A Master's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours or 27 graduate quarter hours in Chemistry
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience with instruction in a postsecondary setting and experience with learning management systems.
- Experience with analyzing student learning outcomes and course data.
