Job Summary

Performs and administers radiopharmaceuticals as well as other medication to patients and performs diagnostic study per physician orders in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Essential Functions

  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
  • Provides patient services to all ages using imaging modalities.
  • Administers radiopharmaceuticals and medications for patient imaging and therapeutic procedures.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies.
  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or report equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedures.
  • Keeps patients adequately covered for their comfort and modesty.
  • Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
  • Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
  • Enters, transmits and reports imaging results.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Qualifications

Education
  • Graduate of a program in discipline required.
Licenses/Certifications
  • Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB), required.
  • Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist in the state of practice required.
  • Basic Life Support Certification, required.
Experience
  • Demonstrated ability to perform a broad range of diagnostic radiologic procedures required.
