SUMMARY:

This position will transition to a hybrid role once the employee is fully trained and receives management approval. Training will be completed on-site at our corporate office in Warwick, RI.

Under the general supervision of the Lead MRI/CT Coordinator and according to established policies and procedures, the MRI/CT Coordinator is responsible for inbound and outbound calls, pre-screening, confirming patients' MR and CT appointments, and ensuring that all collected data is accurately and completely entered into RIS.

SCHEDULE:

  • Monday-Friday 8:30 AM-5:00 PM
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Confirm and screen MRI and CT patients for all sites from current day to at least two days out. Inform patients of RIMI's Medication Policy when necessary.
  • Investigate any allergies, implants, and recent colonoscopy/endoscopy exams; call outside facilities to retrieve information. Scan in necessary paperwork and alert MRI technologists so that they can review MRI safety conditions.
  • Periodically check the current day's schedule for add-on patients.
  • Call to obtain prior outside reports; scan/attach to the appropriate account(s) in RIS.
  • Call to obtain referral slips for patients needing foreign body x-rays prior to MRI and schedule accordingly. Call to obtain exam referral slips if needed when reviewing the case.
  • Check referral slips and inform the Lead MRI/CT Coordinator of any exams scheduled incorrectly.
  • Assist with the training of new staff.
  • Additional duties and projects as assigned.
BASIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
  • Interpersonal skills to interface effectively with patients who may be under physical and/or emotional stress, referring physicians, staff, and fellow employees.
  • Organizational and analytical skills to compile and interpret data.
  • Ability to multi-task and complete all job duties in a timely manner for efficient patient care.
  • Attention to detail and ability to act proactively with patients while on the phone.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to enter and update information into RIS as well as clerical methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and medical office procedures
  • Ability to perform basic computer skills is required.
EDUCATION:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a School of Medical Secretarial Sciences program is a plus.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience as a medical secretary or scheduler, preferably in a radiology setting.
