Job Title: Corporate and Community Donations Manager
Department: Donated Goods Program (DGP)
Reports to: Director of Donation Acquisition
FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary:

Responsible for establishing, coordinating, and administering a Corporate & Community Donations Program that will yield additional high-quality donations for GWH. Builds lasting partnerships with local businesses, civic groups, and community-based organizations. Through these relationships, set up donation drives, campaigns, and pickups that result in high-quality donations for Goodwill Houston.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate, maintain, and manage the Corporate & Community Donation Program through building lasting relationships in our community with other retailers, distributors, corporations, estate companies, nonprofit organizations, churches, schools, colleges, universities, etc.
  • Research to continually identify, cultivate, and steward new donor relationships as part of an overall donor acquisition strategy.
  • Work closely with the Transportation Department to ensure equipment and material drop-off and pickups, and donation pickups are executed efficiently and effectively.
  • Work closely with the New Goods Department to ensure corporate donations are processed efficiently and effectively.
  • Use CRM rack all corporate and community donors, including their contact information, relationship details, donations, stewardship preferences and status, etc.
  • Track all corporate and community donations, including quantity, weight, estimated value, sell-through rate, etc.
  • Track all donation drives, conduct site visits, and follow up with donation drive contacts.
  • Work closely with Marketing, Public Relations, and Transportation to ensure donation drives are executed efficiently and effectively.
  • Make business-to-business contacts by telephone, email, mail, and in group network settings to form partnerships that result in corporate donations and donation drive events.
  • Work closely with the Director of Donation Acquisition (DDA) to identify industries and companies that would be good targets for potential corporate donations, including electronics, computers, and other e-commerce worthy items, using various research methods such as business groups, industry newsletters, etc.
  • Work with the Director of Donation Acquisition to identify the most needed/sellable items that will generate revenue for the agency.
  • Work with the Donor Relations Specialist on executing donor cultivation and stewardship initiatives.
  • Represent Goodwill Houston as the Donor Ambassador at community and professional engagements, and donor events.
  • Provide frequent communication with the DDA and senior leadership on planned activities and metric-driven results.
  • Educate GWH associates on the donations process to ensure they are providing business leads that may assist the donation flow.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

  • Must safely perform work; maintain good housekeeping standards and ensure all aisles and pathways to fire exits are clear and free of clutter.
  • Adheres to local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, communication, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a nonprofit fundraising and events, focused on relationship building and in-kind donations, is preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills (proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM software).
  • Ability to communicate, read, and write in English.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with a variety of personality types.
  • Must have a valid TX Driver's License.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI):
  1. Five (5) new corporate partners in the first year
  2. Five (5) new community partners in the first year
  3. Five (5) executed community-sponsored donation drives in the first year
  4. Five (5) executed GWH-sponsored donation drives in the first year
  5. Top (30) target industries, companies, organizations and geographic areas identified in first sixty (60) days


Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, and reach.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull up to 40 lbs.
  • Able to spend most working hours at a computer.
