Summary

This position is located at Kefurt Fitness Center which is a part of Fort Benning with Family & Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR).

Duties

Help
  • Serve as Facility Assistant in a fitness facility. Works under the direction of the Fitness Facility Manager. Assists Facility Manager in the overall management and operation of a fitness facility.
  • Circulates among patrons to assure service is satisfactory: provides general instruction on the use of equipment, facilities, and machinery. Assists with publicity of programs and events assists with marketing of promotional materials.
  • Duties include adjusting due to changes in program demands or hours of operation and assisting in setting up for instructors, contractors, events, athletic activities, and related functions
  • Performs facility cleanliness and/or monitors contracts. Conducts classes and walks all facility rooms to provide guidance or referral as appropriate. Cleans and performs minor maintenance on facility equipment.
  • Issues/receives equipment to authorized users. Assists with the inventory of property. Monitors fitness equipment condition; tracks maintenance and repair or replacement as appropriate.

  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Possesses and maintains the following certifications: CPR, First Aid and AED; MWR Orientation Course; Customer Service; Equipment (Safe Operation and Basic Maintenance Repair).
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service, visit: www.sss.gov.
  • Work hours may involve weekends, weekdays, holidays and night duty.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following:
  • Possesses directly related work experience that includes the demonstrated ability to operate multiple fitness facilities.
  • The related work experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level.
Highly Desirable Criteria:
  • Possession of a Nationally Recognized Basic Fitness Trainer Certification.
Education

This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
