Job Title: Senior Software Engineer
Location: Remote or Hybrid - New York City, Washington D.C., or San Francisco Bay Area
Company Stage of Funding: Venture-backed technology company (Series D)
Office Type: Hybrid (occasional travel as needed)
Salary: $155,000 - $200,000 USD base salary

The system is fundamentally driven by AI, scales across massive datasets, and supports a diverse global customer base. Engineers collaborate closely with data scientists to analyze global-scale data, unlock new insights, and deliver APIs and workflows that bring the product to life.
2. What You Will Do

In this role, you will help design, build, and scale critical backend systems that sit at the core of the platform. You will contribute meaningfully to technical architecture while remaining hands-on with implementation.

You will:

  • Translate product requirements into technical solutions and implementation plans
  • Partner with product managers and other engineers to deliver roadmap initiatives
  • Design, build, and maintain backend services that support platform functionality
  • Write production-grade code that supports data-intensive workloads
  • Analyze technical challenges and propose scalable, maintainable solutions
  • Own features end-to-end, from development through deployment
  • Write tests and contribute to CI/CD and deployment practices
  • Participate in code reviews and uphold strong engineering standards
  • Mentor junior engineers and support their growth
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across engineering, data, and product teams
  • Take ownership of systems and continuously improve performance and reliability
3. Ideal Background

The ideal candidate is a strong backend engineer who thrives in complex environments and values technical excellence.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • 5-8+ years of professional experience building backend or data-driven systems
  • Experience deploying production services in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Proven ability to ship software iteratively from concept to production
  • Comfort working on large, ambiguous, real-world problems
  • Strong commitment to clean code, scalability, and maintainability
  • Experience taking ownership of existing systems and evolving them over time
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and focus on high-impact work
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience collaborating closely within cross-functional teams
  • Exposure to data platforms, distributed systems, or large datasets is a plus
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or similar infrastructure tooling is a plus
4. Preferred

While not required, experience with the following technologies is beneficial:
  • Languages: Python, PySpark
  • Tools: Docker, Git, Kubernetes, Swagger/OpenAPI, AWS/Azure, MLFlow, Celery
  • Data Platforms: Databricks, Delta Lakes
(Spark experience is a plus but not a hard requirement)
5. Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $155,000 - $200,000 USD base salary, depending on experience and skillset
Equity: Competitive equity grants included in most full-time offers
Bonus: Eligible for discretionary bonus or variable compensation depending on role
