The Opportunity:

GOBHI has an immediate opening for a full time, Kinship Family Navigator Specialist. This is a work from home position that can be located the state of Oregon region or accepted radius and is grant funded.

The Kinship Family Navigator Specialist provides trauma-informed support to kinship caregivers by navigating the Oregon System of Care, offering tailored resources and fostering stability. This role empowers families through emotional support, clear communication, and referrals, acting as a vital liaison to bridge connections between caregivers, biological families, and community networks to build a secure support system.

Essential Job Duties:

• Maintain expert level knowledge of resources available for kinship caregivers across the state of Oregon, including 211.
• Maintain a focus on service excellence, routinely going above and beyond to resolve issues.
• Data entry into secure online platform, create online forms, and additional information as required. Process initial intake and recurring requests from kinship families.
• Empowers Kinship caregivers by navigating ODHS Child Welfare systems, securing community resources, and providing guidance on permanency planning and program policies.
• Assess needs, determine eligibility, and make appropriate referrals for Kinship Caregivers and their children.
• Provide culturally responsive support to Kinship Caregivers and professionals serving them by phone, email, and social media within a timely manner.
• Manage the 1-800 Kinship Caregiver phone line by answering phone calls, returning voicemails, and sending messages.
• Complete OKN tangible needs forms, organize documentation of receipts and distribute gift cards from multiple online vendors.
• Deliver in-person and virtual presentations to community partners, conferences, and OKN support groups.
• Coordinate distribution of Oregon Kinship Navigator brochures.
• Provide Triple P Positive Parenting Classes to Oregon Kinship Families individually and in group settings both in-person and virtually.
• Maintain accurate resource data by updating contact details, adding new entries, and removing outdated information.
• Provide suggested updates to the Oregon Kinship Navigator website and associated resource guides.
• Monitor Facebook and other social media accounts to answer questions, moderate support groups, and provide exceptional support to Kinship Caregivers.
• Safeguards the family's dignity and protects the rights and individuality of each kinship family under their supervision.
• Maintains appropriate boundaries and remains in compliance with HIPAA privacy laws.
• Drives to meetings or other GOBHI locations as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

The Position Requirements:

• Three years' experience working in Oregon social services system for Children and Families.
• Two years' experience providing administrative support working with youth and families.
• Current or previous lived experience as a grandparent or other Kinship Caregiver raising a relative child preferred but not required.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.
• Computer skills with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office Suite.
• Capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
