Description:

Electrical Test Engineer

Position Summary:

Lead and perform troubleshooting, testing, and inspection of electrical apparatus and power distribution systems. Some technical supervision required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Test and maintain low and medium voltage switchgear systems (up to 15 kV).
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, calibrate simple relays, and use load recording instruments.
  • Conduct short circuit and protective device coordination studies.
  • Prepare detailed project reports and manage job billing.
  • Develop accurate job proposals, cost estimates, and scopes of work.
  • Support business development and ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
Qualifications

  • Education/Experience:
    • BSEE/BSME (entry level), or
    • Technical school/military equivalent + 3 years of experience, or
    • High school + 4 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of NEC, OSHA, NFPA standards, and NETA certification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Internet research, and computer-controlled test equipment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical power systems and switchgear testing.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Willingness to travel (50%) and work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
