Tools/Part Attendant

The Tools/Part Attendant is responsible for the accountability of assigned shop tools, equipment, and facilities. Operates and maintains the automotive tool room in sort of the maintenance operations. Issues, receives and accounts for various tools and test equipment. Maintains, orders, and issues hardware and other low-cost consumable items associated with the performance of automotive repair and maintenance tasks. Maintains, turn in, and pick up tests, measurement, and diagnostic equipment requiring calibration.

Major Job Activities
  • Assists in the operation of the automotive maintenance tool room.
  • Accounts for all assigned tools and equipment as they are issued and received on a daily basis.
  • Ensures that the calibration required for Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment is maintained and kept current.
  • Searches for lost or misplaced tools.
  • Prepares periodic inventory or keeps perpetual inventory and requisitions stock as needed for inventory and inspections.
  • Unpacks and stores new equipment.
  • Visually inspects tools or measures with micrometer for wear or defects and reports damaged or worn-out equipment to superiors.
  • May coat tools with grease or other preservative, using brush or spray gun.
  • May attach identification tags or engrave identifying information on tools and equipment, using electric marking tool.
  • Maintain tool room in compliance with OSHA and Environmental Policies, and applicable Army regulations.
  • Pick up parts from local vendors and the Supply Support Activity (SSA).
  • Receive, organize, and distribute parts for work order jobs.
  • Work within GCSS-A to PGI and PGR parts and provide comeback copies per transaction.
  • Perform general labor tasks.
  • Additional duties assigned as needed, to meet organizational/operational objectives.
  • Keeps records of tools issued to and returned by workers.

Material & Equipment Directly Used
  • Required to operate material handling equipment.
  • Various equipment used.
  • Operate forklift.
  • Operate Government owned vehicles up to 2.5 ton stake bed truck.
Working Environment

Dirt, dust, and grease may be present. There is frequent exposure to chemicals that may burn and irritate the skin if proper personal protective equipment is not used. Personal Protection Equipment may be required. Capable of dealing with customers and peers in a professional and courteous manner. Capability to work independently or in a team based, highly collaborative environment.

Physical Activities

Work requires standing, climbing, bending, and occasionally working in cramped and awkward positions. Employee stands for long periods. Frequently lifts equipment weighing 25 pounds. Occasionally assists lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 75 pounds. If employee fails to follow appropriate safety procedures, there could be exposure to cuts, bruises, shocks, and strains. May be required to wear a respirator and to pass the required physical. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty including nights, weekends, and holidays. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations, and published Company work rules.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. High School graduate or equivalent. Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening. Must be able to secure and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC), within six months of employment. Valid State Driver's License is required. Experience: Preferred at least one (1) year, or equivalent, of experience accounting for, maintaining, inventorying, and caring for assigned property. Posses the ability to understand operating procedures, work instructions, and Army property accountability regulations. Must have average organizational skills, analytical skills; and written and oral communication skills in the English Language. Stand, bend, lift up to 70 pounds. Able to drive and operate F350 and lower size vehicles. Able to operate a forklift. Basic skills using Microsoft Office applications. Basic knowledge of Automotive Tools, Test Equipment, and Automotive Shop Equipment required. GCSS-Army trained or experience.
