This is a FULL-TIME job for a person who is looking for a career and is willing to work much harder than the average person.
DUTIES:
Running a route involves driving to 12 to 18 or more houses per day, servicing the residence and collecting money from the customers.
STATE REQUIRED REGISTRATION:
The State of Georgia requires that all Pest Control employees obtain 70 hours of on-the-job training, attend 10 hours of classroom instruction and pass a written examination to become a registered employee.
DRIVING RECORD REQUIREMENTS:
The Company's Commercial Vehicle Insurance carrier must approve all applicants that drive a company vehicle. You must have a valid Driver's License, 5 years driving experience, be at least 21 years old, and have a good MVR (Motor Vehicle Report). A good 36-month MVR should not contain any of the following:
- Reckless, negligent or careless driving
- Any violation involving alcohol or drugs (including refusal to submit to chemical test)
- Fleeing or eluding an officer
- Failure to stop and identify after an accident
- Negligent homicide, vehicular manslaughter or assault with a motor vehicle Drag racing or racing on roadways
- Theft of a motor vehicle or any other felony resulting from the operation of a motor vehicle
- Exceeding the speed limit by more than 20 mph
- Driving with a suspended/revoked license or registration
The following violations are subject to the Insurance carrier's approval: - More than one speeding violation.

HOURS: On Monday through Thursday, our workday starts at 7:30 A.M. and ends at 6:30 P.M. The routes are set up to work our customers from the 1st Monday thru the 4th Thursday of each month. Customers are not scheduled for regular service on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The routes that are serviced 16 days per month. The "extra days" left over in the month are NOT scheduled workdays.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants should be in good health, as the job requires walking, getting down on your knees in kitchens and stooping in order to service kitchen cabinets and other parts of the residence. The job does NOT require crawling under houses. You must be able to check the oil and change a flat tire on the service vehicle.
APPEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must maintain a neat, professional appearance. Hair must be worn in a manner that prevents it from becoming caught in cabinet doors or equipment. Excessive jewelry and strong colognes are not permitted. Applicants must have a business-appropriate haircut and be clean-shaven. OSHA regulations require that respirators fit properly and are not obstructed by facial hair. Facial piercings may be restricted when they interfere with the proper fit of required safety equipment, including respirators.
AREA OF OPERATION: Some days are worked in Columbus while the other days are worked as far away as 50 miles from Columbus.
COMPANY VEHICLE: The Company furnishes a company vehicle for business use to run your route. You will take the company vehicle home each night AFTER you pass the State Registration Exam. The company vehicle is NOT for personal use.
COMPENSATION: An hourly wage will be discussed in your interview. In addition, a commission is paid on all the work that you do and any new accounts that you sell. The more that you do, the more that you will make.
Operating a pest control service route requires strict adherence to company policies, safety standards, and scheduling requirements. Candidates must meet
all of the following qualifications to perform the essential functions of the position:
- Ability to interact professionally and effectively with customers, coworkers, and the public.
- Ability to read maps, follow written and verbal directions, and navigate assigned service areas accurately.
- Route assignments require remaining within the designated service area until the scheduled end of the workday, no earlier than 6:00 p.m., unless prior authorization is granted by management. Company vehicle tracking systems are used to verify route compliance. Unauthorized early departure from a route may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
- Must possess and maintain a personal cell phone with reliable reception throughout the assigned service area for work-related communication.
- Must be able to report to work reliably and consistently as scheduled. Personal responsibilities must be managed in a manner that does not interfere with attendance or job performance.
- Upon hire, must obtain and maintain a current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets company driving standards. Instructions for obtaining an MVR will be provided.
