Reports to: Assistant Manager, Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent

Join Loram's North America field operations as a Rail Maintenance Equipment Operator! No prior rail experience is required. If you're motivated and have a background in mechanics, electrical systems, hydraulics, or heavy equipment operation, we have full training to help you succeed. Your Responsibilities:

  • Safely and efficiently operate and maintain Loram's specialized rail maintenance equipment.
  • Conduct hands-on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic maintenance, including inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure excellent equipment performance while adhering to safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively with the team using radio, in-person discussions, and written methods.
  • Consistently follow FRA, OSHA, and Loram safety protocols.
  • Engage in ongoing training to enhance your skills and support your career progression.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • No previous rail experience is necessary; we will provide the training!
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and eagerness to learn and develop.
  • A commitment to safety and compliance with industry standards.
  • Proficient in English communication, both verbal and written.

What to Expect:

  • Willingness to travel 100% of the time, including internationally, using any transportation method.
  • Long field assignments (6-8 weeks at a time) with demanding workdays (12+ hours).
  • Physically intensive work outdoors under all weather conditions.
  • Regular walking, climbing, lifting (over 75 lbs), and working in confined spaces or at heights.
  • Exposure to unique challenges along with opportunities to acquire practical, in-demand skills.

  • Comfortable working in challenging outdoor conditions.
  • Able to walk 5-9 miles daily on uneven surfaces.
  • Capable of climbing ladders and stepping up 36 inches multiple times each day.
  • Must lift and handle tools/equipment weighing over 75 lbs.
  • Must meet vision and hearing standards for day and night operations.
