To assist EL and/or classroom teachers in achieving identified students' Individualized English Learner Program (I-ELP) instructional objectives or grade level course of study content by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve the skill levels of the class as a whole
To assist in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning learning environment where students can take full advantage of the instructional and available resource programs to learn the English language and grade-level appropriate content

Training: The assignment will require the successful completion of various English Learner instructional needs
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Bilingual with English as a primary or secondary language preferred
Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities and program delivery
Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions
Ability to assume responsibility for supervising students by understanding and carrying out oral and written instructions
Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community
Written and oral communication skills
Demonstrates ability to type at least 40 words per minute
Has the eligibility to work within the United States
Reports to the Director of Federal Programs and the assigned certified EL Teacher
Learns how to manage and facilitate the various EL instructional programs utilized for English language acquisition and support of the general education instructional program
Works with individual or small groups of EL students to assist in learning the English language
Assists the EL teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities
Assists EL students with classwork during large group activities in the classroom when appropriate to a student's I-ELP
Alerts the EL and classroom teachers to any problem or special information about an individual student
Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers
Participates in in-service training programs as assigned
Maintains detailed intervention records for all assigned EL students
Checks and assists with EL student attendance
Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students
Assists with EL families as needed
Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned
