Proposed Salary Range: $13.21 - $13.86 Hourly (Based on Experience)
Shift: First Shift (Onsite/No Remote or Hybrid) - Monday - Thursday (6am - 430pm) Occasional Friday shifts as needed

The Packer performs those duties involved with the actual packaging of batteries in a fast pace, high speed environment and prepares batteries for movement to the shipping warehouse.

The Packer should have the capability to read and interpret process information; and understand the impact their actions have on the quality objective.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Inspects product to ensure it is packaged according to specifications.
  • Feeds product to conveyors, hoppers, or other feeding devices, and unloads packaged product.
  • Replenishes packaging supplies such as wrapping paper, plastic sheet, boxes, cartons, glue, ink, or labels.
  • Mounts supplies on spindles or places supplies in hopper or other feeding devices. Required to move product by using pallet jack to load in machine or moving product to warehouse.
  • Positions and holds container in machine and depresses pedal, presses button, or moves lever to clean, glue, label, or tape container.
  • Tallies number of units of product packaged or records information such as size, weight, and type of products packaged.
  • Inspects the finished output:
    • Inspects packaged batteries to determine if the packages meet company specifications and standards.
    • Checks the inner and outer boxes for date codes, catalog numbers, etc.
    • Ensures the correct placement of the product into the boxes.
    • Informs the Group Leader and Supervisor of the results of the quality checks and ensures that the needed corrective actions are taken.
    • Maintains accurate log sheets and records of production output, downtime reports, test results, reject data, etc.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training

LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively, present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add and subtract numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.

REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and forklift traffic. The employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
