All About General Merchandise

Experts of operations, process and efficiency who ensure product is set, merchandised, priced and ready for guests. The team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all GM areas and also leads inventory accuracy, merchandise set‑up, pricing and fulfillment.

Responsibilities

• Execute daily/weekly workload to reach department and store sales goals and guest engagement, including merchandising, pricing and promotions.
• Educate the team on operational procedures that affect inventory management, profitability and product availability.
• Assess reporting, identify gaps in GM processes and develop corrective plans.
• Lead daily execution of tasks such as receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing back‑room and placing promotional signs.
• Assist in inventory accuracy and merchandise set‑up for all store areas.
• Assign tasks to team members based on workload and guest traffic, aligning with business priorities.
• Hold team members accountable to clear goals and expectations.
• Lead pick, pack and ship fulfillment work where applicable, assessing fulfillment reporting.
• Collaborate with all teams and leaders to keep the store guest‑ready.
• Stay informed about trends, products and Target communications to educate teammates.
• Evaluate candidates, coach and develop a guest‑centric team.
• Work a schedule that meets guest and business needs, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Support guest services such as back‑up cashier and digital fulfillment while maintaining compliance.
• Demonstrate inclusivity, ethical conduct, safety, and security practices.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Age 18 or older.
• Previous retail experience preferred but not required.
• Leadership and accountability skills.
• Communication across devices and handheld scanners.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Workload prioritization and task ownership.
• Customer‑friendly attitude and effective communication skills.
