Job Description/ Responsibilities:
The MongoDB and SQL Database Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of database systems. This role ensures the availability, integrity, security, and optimal operation of both MongoDB (NoSQL) and SQL (relational) databases. The administrator collaborates with development and IT teams to support business applications, troubleshoot issues, and implement best practices for database management.

Key Responsibilities
• Install, configure, and upgrade MongoDB and SQL database servers, clusters, and related tools.
• Monitor database performance, availability, and security; implement proactive measures to ensure stability and scalability.
• Perform regular backups and restorations; develop disaster recovery strategies for both MongoDB and SQL environments.
• Manage database access and permissions, ensuring compliance with data security policies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including performance bottlenecks, replication errors, and data integrity problems.
• Design, implement, and optimize database schemas, indexes, and queries for both NoSQL and SQL data models.
• Automate routine database tasks using scripts and tools to improve efficiency.
• Maintain documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and standards.
• Collaborate with software developers and system administrators to support application development and deployment.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging database technologies and recommend improvements as appropriate.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience administering MongoDB and at least one major SQL database platform (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Strong understanding of database architectures, replication, sharding, and clustering.
• Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell, PowerShell) for database automation.
• Knowledge of database security best practices and compliance requirements.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

This position typically operates in an office or hybrid setting, collaborating with IT, development, and business teams. Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required for maintenance, upgrades, or incident response.
