Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and experienced volunteer to serve as our Director of Preventive Efforts. This leadership role is critical to expanding and strengthening our preventive programs, particularly My Lifebridge Academy, which helps teens and young adults learn the skills needed to navigate life successfully through education, employment, and mentoring.

This is an excellent volunteer opportunity for retired professionals, individuals considering a career change who need hands-on experience, or anyone seeking meaningful leadership experience in the nonprofit sector.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong leadership and program development skills, committed to preventing obstacles such as unplanned pregnancy, incarceration, addiction, and homelessness among at-risk youth.

Key Responsibilities: Volunteer Management

  • Train new volunteers on program protocols, youth engagement strategies, and organizational mission

  • Coordinate volunteer schedules, activities, and ongoing support for My Lifebridge Academy and other preventive initiatives

Program Development & Evolution

  • Collaborate with facilitators and co-facilitators to enhance My Lifebridge Academy sessions

  • Partner with local group homes to strengthen program delivery and reach

  • Assess and continuously improve curriculum covering:

    • Health and Wellness

    • Housing & Employment

    • Financial Literacy & Risk Management

    • Building Support Networks

    • Self Awareness & Soft Skills

    • Continued Education

Mentoring Program Implementation

  • Design and launch a new mentoring program for foster and at-risk youth

  • Develop mentor screening and training processes

  • Create program guidelines, matching protocols, and success metrics

  • Oversee mentor-mentee relationships and provide ongoing support

Strategic Leadership

  • Collaborate with staff to align preventive efforts with organizational goals

  • Monitor program outcomes and prepare reports on program impact

  • Identify opportunities for program expansion and community partnerships

Ideal Candidate Experience & Skills

  • Experience in volunteer management, nonprofit work, or youth services

  • Background working with at-risk youth or foster care system

  • Strong organizational and program development abilities

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

  • Genuine passion for supporting at-risk youth

Preferred

  • Social work, education, or youth development background

  • Experience with mentoring programs

  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care

Time Commitment

  • 3-5 hours per week (sometimes more depending on the time of year)

  • Minimum 1-year commitment

  • Flexible schedule with some evening/weekend availability

  • Regular program participation and team meetings
