Position Overview

The Assistant Store Leader plays a crucial role in maintaining an organized, welcoming store environment. Working closely with the Store Team Leader, you will help foster a customer-first culture, ensuring high standards of service and teamwork. Your responsibilities will include supervising employees, managing merchandise, completing necessary paperwork, and preparing deposits to enhance profitability while safeguarding company assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to exceed customer expectations, including greeting and assisting customers.
  • Support the Store Team Leader in establishing a customer-centric store culture.
  • Promote product knowledge and effective selling techniques to enhance the shopping experience.
  • Help create a clean, safe, and organized store that delights customers and staff.
  • Facilitate visually appealing merchandising and maintain engaging product displays.
  • Assist in training staff on product knowledge to provide a distinctive shopping experience.
  • Maintain daily and weekly cleaning checklists to ensure a top-notch shopping environment.
  • Ensure merchandising and reset standards to provide a clutter-free space for customers.
  • Open and close the store at least two days a week.
  • Assist in employee scheduling, training, and safety compliance.
  • Manage merchandise flow, including receiving, stocking, and auditing inventory.
  • Promote financial integrity through strict cash handling and security practices.
  • Assist in store management duties during the Store Team Leader's absence.

Qualifications:

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Able to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures.
  • Proficient in basic math calculations (addition, subtraction, percentages).
  • Familiarity with cash handling principles and security measures.
  • Ability to manage cash register operations and generate reports effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving abilities to handle a variety of situations.
  • Ability to interact respectfully with team members, suppliers, and customers.
  • Creative merchandising skills with strong product inventory knowledge.

Work Experience and Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One year of experience in retail preferred.
  • Six months of supervisory experience preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, and kneeling.
  • Handling merchandise and equipment regularly.
  • Regular lifting of up to 40 pounds; occasional lifting up to 55 pounds.
  • Exposure to outdoor conditions and cleaning solutions.
  • Must have reliable transportation for banking deposits.
