Overview

Electrical Engineer III – NPD Team at Kysor-Warren Epta, Columbus, Georgia. As a key member of our New Product Development (NPD) team, you will advance innovative electrical designs for commercial refrigeration systems and contribute to sustainable, efficient, and technology-driven solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize electrical wiring diagrams and layouts for electrical boxes and control systems.
  • Lead design and selection of harnesses, connectors, and electrical components for correct application with refrigeration products.
  • Perform laboratory testing of controllers, luminaires, and other electrical or refrigeration components to ensure performance and reliability.
  • Conduct lighting studies to optimize illumination and light distribution within commercial refrigeration systems.
  • Develop testing methods, documentation, and validation procedures to confirm component and system capabilities.
  • Collaborate daily with mechanical and thermal design engineers, as well as technicians, to ensure integration and product excellence.
  • Coordinate with sourcing, purchasing, and manufacturing teams to support product development and launch readiness.
  • Work with external suppliers for design verification and implementation of luminaires, electrical, and refrigeration control equipment.
  • Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and relevant electrical codes.
  • Prepare technical reports and present design updates and recommendations to leadership.
  • Approximately 5% travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical design or a similar role preferred.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD; familiarity with PCB design is a plus.
  • Understanding of luminaire design and light optimization principles.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems, C++, or Python for automation and control.
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, scientific methods, and mathematical techniques.
  • Proven ability to plan, manage, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to cross-functional and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools.
