High School Math Adjunct Instructor

The Math Adjunct Instructor will provide supplemental mathematics instruction and targeted academic support to students in grades 912. This position is designed to enhance access to high-quality math learning opportunities, improve proficiency in foundational math courses, and support student success in both traditional and alternative learning settings.

This Position Will Help:

  • Maintain student access to high-quality math instruction across core and intervention settings.
  • Provide targeted support in foundational courses such as Algebra I and Geometry.
  • Support alternative learning environments, including Warrior Inspiration Academy and credit recovery programs.
  • Increase student performance on ACT/WorkKeys assessments and overall math proficiency benchmarks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction, tutoring, or intervention aligned with district curriculum and state standards.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and administrators to support student learning goals.
  • Monitor student progress and provide ongoing feedback to improve achievement.
  • Utilize district-approved instructional tools, online platforms, and data-driven strategies.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and instructional records.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and families regarding student progress.
  • Participate in professional development and planning as assigned.

Course Support May Include:

  • Algebra I: Linear equations, expressions, and functions
  • Geometry: Reasoning, proofs, and coordinate geometry
  • Algebra II with Trigonometry: Quadratics, polynomials, and trigonometric applications
  • Mathematical Modeling: Real-world applications of advanced math concepts
  • Credit Recovery/Intervention Support: Targeted remediation aligned to Alabama Course of Study standards
  • ACT/WorkKeys Math Prep: Focused preparation for college and career readiness benchmarks

Delivery Model (Traditional Face-to-Face or Hybrid):

  • Adjunct Instructor: A certified math teacher will be contracted to provide instruction during the school day or in flexible blocks based on scheduling needs.
  • Instructional Site: Russell County High School and/or Warrior Inspiration Academy.
  • Supervision: The adjunct teacher will report to the building principal or his designee.

Scheduling:

  • The position will be structured for a maximum of 2.5 instructional hours per day.
  • Courses may be offered as stand-alone periods, pull-out sessions, or embedded in existing credit recovery programs.
  • The position may also support Saturday School or targeted after-school intervention blocks if needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or related field (Master's preferred)
  • Valid Alabama teaching certificate in Mathematics or eligibility for certification (Alternative A or Interim Route candidates may be considered)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of secondary math content and instructional strategies
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills

Work Schedule:

  • Part-time, adjunct assignment
  • Schedule and duration may vary based on program and student needs

Evaluation:

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Russell County Board of Education's policy for adjunct and instructional personnel.
