Job Summary

This position participates in the performance of landscape and field maintenance duties. Performs landscape and field maintenance duties such as planting, watering, fertilizing, cultivating, mowing, tree cutting, pruning, string trimming, edging, blowing, raking, dragging fields, etc. Performs general maintenance of building facilities, including but not limited to repairing damages, replacing lightbulbs, window repair, painting/staining, and addresses other related building necessities. Paints County restroom and concession buildings. Chemical/herbicide application. Inspects buildings to identify problems or safety hazards. Assists other crews/departments with special projects and/or events. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of county and department regulations, policies, and procedures Knowledge of proper and current landscape and shrub practices and techniques Knowledge of proper and current athletic field maintenance practices and techniques Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety requirements Knowledge of safety policies and procedures Knowledge of the use, maintenance, and repair of hand tools and equipment related to building and landscape/field maintenance work. Knowledge of traffic hazards, safety principles, rules, regulations, and speed limits Skill in painting. Skill in the use and maintenance of landscape/field equipment Skill in the use of custodial equipment and tools Skilled in clear and effective written and oral communication Driven, self-motivated, responsible, and takes initiative

Qualifications

High School diploma/GED and one (1) year of related experience, or equivalent. Possession of a valid drivers license issued by the State of Alabama. Knowledge of proper and current landscape and shrub practices and techniques. Knowledge of proper and current athletic field maintenance practices and techniques. Knowledge of county and department regulations, policies, and procedures. Skill in the use and maintenance of landscape/field equipment. Skill in the use of custodial equipment and tools. Skill in clear and effective written and oral communication. Driven, self-motivated, responsible, and takes initiative.
