MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: The Technical Inspector (TI) examines work in progress, the construction and final inspections of repairs jigs, fixtures, cutting tools, gauges, or metal dies or molds used in shaping or forming metal or nonmetallic material (e.g., plastic plaster, rubber, glass). Examines specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts. Inspect welds on both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes. The TI will inspect and give guidance related to tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding, repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes and increases size of metal parts, positions, and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding. They may locate and task repairs for cracks in industrial engine cylinder heads, using inspection equipment and gas torch.
