As a Behavior Support Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in implementing our positive behavior support program across Grades K-12. Your main focus will be on proactive strategies to enhance positive behaviors while also being equipped to handle crisis situations effectively using CPI strategies. Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement targeted interventions to promote positive academic and social-emotional outcomes.
  • Reinforce positive behaviors, redirect negative actions, and model effective strategies for classroom staff.
  • Maintain accurate records related to student behavior strategies and intervention plans.
  • Collect and analyze behavioral data to monitor student progress.
  • Provide support to classroom staff in managing behaviors and implementing behavior management systems.
  • Apply applied behavior analysis principles to address disruptive behaviors under the guidance of certified behavior analysts.
  • Conduct meaningful behavioral observations for creating individualized intervention plans.
  • Assist teachers with instructional activities and classroom management.
  • Respond to crises with effective de-escalation techniques, prioritizing student safety.
  • Document behavioral incidents thoroughly and ensure compliance with policies.
  • Attend team meetings and participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Supervise students during school-related activities, including field trips and lunch duties.
  • Travel between multiple site locations to provide direct support as needed.
  • Undertake additional duties to promote program excellence.

Qualifications Required:

  • Associate's degree or higher in a related field.
  • Licensed or in the process of obtaining registered behavior technician (RBT) credential preferred.
  • Possess a valid state driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain certification in crisis management training.
  • Experience working with children in special education or behavioral health settings.
  • Skilled in working with individuals with learning disabilities and behavioral disorders.
  • Knowledge of positive behavior intervention strategies and functional behavior analysis.
  • Ability to think and act calmly in emergency situations.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to multitask effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic office technology.
