Job Details

This position is responsible for supervising the operation of the Fleet Maintenance Body Shop. Schedules work for the body shop; ensures that work is done correctly and in a timely manner. Orders parts and supplies for the body shop; enters parts and supplies in the computer system; charges parts and supplies out to each vehicle that comes through the shop; adds labor for each employee working on the vehicle. Schedules work to be done by outside vendors. Contacts insurance companies on not-at-fault accidents to negotiate the cost of repairs to the vehicle; collects insurance payments. Participates in the selection of new employees; approves vacation leave; supervises and evaluates the work of personnel engaged in performing auto body repair work in the Fleet Maintenance division. Prepares estimates for all damaged city vehicles. Oversees the replacement of old equipment with new equipment; transports old equipment to the salvage yard; maintains records of equipment.
