This position is responsible for overseeing the operation of the city-owned cemeteries. Interviews, hires, trains, and disciplines employees; plans, assigns, directs, and appraises the work of employees; addresses employee complaints. Coordinates funerals with families, funeral homes, vault companies, and the cemetery crew; inspects sites before and after services. Maintains records for each of the four cemeteries in the Riverdale office; distributes monthly reports to the Public Works Director. Inputs all written records and internment cards on the official Web site for research purposes. Maintains and inspects the grounds of the four city-owned cemeteries, including designing landscape plans and overseeing grass cutting, beautification potential, and historic preservation needs; performs weekly inventories of equipment; orders parts, supplies, and maintenance for all equipment.
