Systems Infrastructure Engineer/Architect

Description:

CTG is seeking to fill a Systems Infrastructure Engineer/Architect opening for our client in Albany, NY.

Location: Remote

Duration: 12 months

Duties:

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise infrastructure systems across mainframe (z/OS), midrange (AIX, Linux), and distributed platforms

• Provide expertise in IBM CICS, including Transaction Gateway support and integration

• Manage and monitor message queuing environments using IBM MQ

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high availability, performance, and security of infrastructure solutions

• Develop system architecture documentation, technical standards, and operational procedures

• Support incident response and root cause analysis for infrastructure-related issues

• Lead the planning and execution of upgrades, patches, and system migrations

Skills:

• Proficiency with IBM CICS, including Transaction Gateway configuration and troubleshooting

• In-depth knowledge of z/OS systems, with experience in mainframe systems architecture and operations

• Strong background in AIX and Linux operating systems

• Expertise in IBM MQ configuration, performance tuning, and integration

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Familiarity with scripting and automation tools for systems management

• Ability to work independently and within a team environment

Experience:

• 7+ years of experience in systems engineering or infrastructure architecture roles

• Demonstrated experience designing and supporting enterprise environments across mainframe, midrange, and Linux platforms

• Proven experience with IBM middleware tools including CICS and MQ

• Track record of successful infrastructure design, deployment, and support

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred

• Relevant certifications (e.g., IBM Certified System Administrator, Red Hat Certified Engineer) are a plus

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $40 to $70/hr. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
