Job Description

The Building Brains Part Time Afterschool Program Site Director is responsible for orienting, monitoring, and leading children through the daily operation of a Gwinnett County afterschool program. The incumbent will be the onsite lead, creating safe places for children and youth to receive academic support, school readiness, enrichment activities, and child/youth development.

  • Orienting, monitoring, and leading children in various activities
  • Developing and implementing lesson plans
  • Leading children and staff through the day-to-day operation of an after-school program, including set-up and clean-up of equipment and supplies.
  • Supervising and leading various activities, games, and crafts for participants for both indoor and outdoor environments
  • Planning for appropriate learning experiences for students based on the curriculum and providing an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and environmental development of student.
  • Linking lesson content to students' knowledge, background experience, and/or real-world application of content
  • Monitoring staff work hours as well as completing and submitting time sheets.
  • Ensuring the safety of program participants and facility operations
  • Supervising program staff, interaction with parents and paperwork completion
  • Reporting and appropriately dealing with discipline problems, accidents, and other incidents

Job Description

Essential Duties

  • Orienting, monitoring, and leading children in various activities
  • Developing and implementing lesson plans
  • Leading children and staff through the day-to-day operation of an after-school program, including set-up and clean-up of equipment and supplies.
  • Supervising and leading various activities, games, and crafts for participants for both indoor and outdoor environments

Public Speaking Duties

  • Leading and/or facilitating educational programs to the youth and providing clear instructions on the programs

Other Job Requirements/Information

  • This job requires fingerprinting.

Hourly rate

Salary will be $21.00.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in early childhood education, elementary education, or a closely related field AND
  • One year experience working with and monitoring school-aged children in an organized camp, afterschool, daycare, or similar setting
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
  • Valid driver's license
  • CPR certification within 90 days of employment
  • First Aid Certification within 90 days of employment
Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, elementary education, or a closely related field
  • Previous supervisory experience working with and monitoring school-aged children in an organized camp, afterschool, daycare, or similar setting
  • CPR certification
  • First Aid Certification
