Job Summary

Leads and manages strategic transformation initiatives for Synovus' banking operations. Develops policies and procedures ensuring alignment to corporate strategy and goals. Collaborates with all stakeholders in related business functions to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems and processes.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads mission critical units and delivers on the most important goals and projects including organizational design, operational improvements, and strategic planning to transform siloed structure to highly collaborative effectual organization.
  • Develops and oversee the end-to-end delivery of the transformation roadmap, from discovery to implementation. Works closely with senior leadership to develop and design key performance indicators, guidelines, work practices, standard operating procedures, service levels, and other performance metrics.
  • Recommends initiatives to decrease costs, enhance service levels, and better the work environment. Upholds the delivery of expected service levels, and takes responsibility for the overall fulfillment of the agreed SLA for Operations.
  • Builds and leads a high-performing team, providing mentorship and development opportunities. Continuously evaluates the Operations organizational structure for efficiency improvements. Ensures team members have access to professional and personal growth within the organization.
  • Implements change management strategies to ensure smooth transitions and adoption of new processes.
  • Drives operational excellence by optimizing processes and systems. Creates, implements, and oversees scalable, repeatable, and streamlined processes and procedures guiding strategic cross-functional teams.
  • Monitors and measures the progress of transformation initiatives and communicates updates to stakeholders. Partners with line-of-business executives across the enterprise to ensure synergy at all levels and with all stakeholders regarding risk, operational efficiency and effectives, and resources.
  • Promotes ethics and compliance and builds and sustains an environment where adherence to and reinforcement of the highest standards of integrity and ethics are the norm and has zero tolerance for unethical behavior. Identifies opportunities and takes action to enhance compliance within the organization.
  • Manages the annual performance management and merit processes for direct and indirect reports. Coaches and develops team members and builds a work environment where team members are engaged and feel a positive sense of achievement about their role in the company. Works closely with Human Resources regarding employee relations, compensation, training, posting and filling vacant positions and other Human Resources related matters.
  • Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum Experience:

Fifteen years of banking industry experience leading large-scale transformation initiatives and high performing teams.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • In depth knowledge of corporate governance principles and managerial best practices
  • Expertise in operational efficiency, business execution, change management methodologies, program and stakeholder management
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans to improve operational efficiency
  • Strong leadership skills to manage and motivate teams
  • Strong business planning, analytical, and conceptual skills
  • Ability to build effective, data driven executive level presentations, summarizing complex issues to highlight key takeaways
  • Ability to work with management across the organization and create buy-in across multiple layers of stakeholders
  • Managing relationships with senior executives
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
