Job Summary
The EHS Technician at the Athens site is an indirect hourly role responsible for supporting Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHS) programs to ensure a safe and compliant operation. Key duties include maintaining EHS systems, monitoring compliance, and reporting EHS metrics. The technician will manage EHS action items, support training initiatives, and contribute to building a safety-focused culture across the facility. They will investigate incidents, conduct root cause analyses, and ensure corrective actions are implemented. The role also involves supporting internal assessments to ensure adherence to Eaton's MESH standards. As the Primary Emergency Coordinator, the technician will oversee emergency preparedness and response efforts at the Athens Supercharger facility. This position requires a strong commitment to safety and environmental responsibility in alignment with Eaton's Philosophy and Values.
Job Responsibilities
•Perform tasks related to Contractor Management Program, Security and Badges
•Perform weekly site security inspections
•Accurately record and maintain safety agreement forms and visitor logs
•Ensure all contractors review Contractor Safety Requirements and sign Agreement form prior to entering facility.
•Recognize requirements and ensure compliance to safety programs and standards including hazard communication, slip/trip/falls, fall protection, confined space, hot work, respiratory protection, lockout/tag-out (LOTO), machine guarding, power and hand-held tools, electrical, emergency shower and eyewash, and chemical management.
•Administer plant improvement programs such as Positive Interruptions, IMPACT Observations, and Near Hit/Near Miss observations.
•Collecting and entering data into various online systems to report and monitor plant EHS metrics using the MESH suite of programs.
•Creating monthly EHS report for management review using compiled data
•Perform boots on the ground safety oversight by identifying and correcting workplace hazards and unsafe conditions
•Identify workplace safety hazards and conditions for job-related tasks
•Maintain and implement compliance of site-specific safety policies such as Life Saving Rules
•Perform hazardous and non-hazardous waste management including proper handling, labeling, and storage.
•Monitor waste at satellite accumulation areas and move full containers to Central Accumulation Area (CAA).
•Order and maintain adequate spill supplies: spill pads, empty drums, secondary containment, and other equipment necessary to maintain safe handling and correct disposal of hazardous waste.
•Help manage the storage of hazardous waste
•Direct and train staff on safety and environmental matters, including machine guarding, personal protective equipment, and routine/non-routine tasks.
•Assist with other plant-wide operations and maintenance programs assigned by facilities management
