The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for a casual, work as needed Child Care Worker for the Augusta Area Command, located in Augusta, GA.

Job Summary:

Provides child care services for children in the childwatch areas including personal care, hygiene, learning and development activities and specialized programs; prepares and maintains record; maintains cleanliness and orderliness of child care property. Assists with the set-up, oversight, and cleanup of childrens parties as scheduled.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of the principles and practices of Child Behavior and Development; knowledge of the principles and practices of early childhood curriculum development; knowledge of the principles and practices of First Aid and C.P.R and ability to ensure the safety of children; ability to plan, develop, and implement effective childhood programs and activities; ability to use/operate general office equipment, playground equipment, nursery equipment, and classroom equipment.

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or G.E.D required; And Two (2) years experience teaching child development programs in a church or pre-school; Or Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid Drivers License; C.P.R. and First Aid Certification, will be acquired as directed by supervisor; Safe from Harm Certification, will be acquired as directed by supervisor.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements; Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language; Ability to observe children and ensure their safety; Ability to lift, hold, and carry toddlers on a regular basis; Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis; Work is performed in a normal child care environment where there are little physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
