Description:

Columbus Technical College is seeking an individual to serve as an adjunct instructor for Chemistry. Under general supervision, this individual will prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction, evaluate students' progress in attaining goals, objectives, and student learning outcomes. This position is on campus and requires day and evening instruction. The position is part‑time/exempt.May be required to teach high school students.May require occasional weekends.May require teaching on or off campus throughout our service delivery area (Muscogee County, Stewart County, Quitman County, Chattahoochee County, Harris County, and Talbot County).May require travel.ResponsibilitiesDeliver effective individualized program and instruction to class members.Ensure adherence to technical college and safety requirements in classrooms and labs by following established procedures.Evaluate students' progress in attaining goals and objectives.Follow state standards in developing course outlines, goals, and objectives.Ensure consistency in syllabi, lesson plans, tests, and other appropriate coursework.Request and maintain supplies, tools, and equipment.Prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports.Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars, conferences, and by reading professional literature.Meet with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students.Display a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operate effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrate trustworthiness and responsible behavior.Possess strong time management and organization skills.Demonstrate effective written and oral communication.Exhibit keen observation, supervision, and evaluation skills.Have general computer knowledge (Microsoft Office Products).Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.Physical DemandsResponsibilities are typically performed in an office or classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for up to three to four continuous hours at a time. The employee frequently lifts lightweight objects up to 25 lbs. Exposure to dirt, dust, chemicals, fumes, and hazardous materials is possible in the laboratory environment. The ability to distinguish colors and finger dexterity is required.Minimum QualificationsA master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Chemistry.OR: A master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours or 27 graduate quarter hours in Chemistry.Preferred QualificationsExperience with instruction in a postsecondary setting and experience with learning management systems.Experience with analyzing student learning outcomes and course data.Salary/BenefitsSalary is commensurate with education and experience.Equal Opportunity StatementColumbus Technical College is an equal opportunity employer.
