Primary Function: The job of Receptionist is done for the purpose/s of greeting and directing visitors, responding to inquiries from staff, the public, parents, students, etc., by providing requested information and/or referral to other parties.
This job is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics: It is highly desirable that the incumbent be bilingual. All duties listed are not performed in every department.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Educational Level:
High School Diploma/GED
2. Requirement:
Additional testing for selected candidates will be required.
3. Experience:
Minimum one year of experience or equivalent technical/business certificate
4. Physical Activities:
Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities
5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Written and oral communication; adapts to changing work priorities; ability to problem solve; Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1.
Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
2.
Answers telephone system for the purpose of screening calls, transferring calls, responding to inquiries and/or taking messages.
3.
Assists with other department projects (e.g. production of documents, meeting room schedules, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the efficient functioning of the work unit.
4.
Greets individuals entering the building or floor (e.g. visitors, parents, students, vendors; maintains daily meeting/event schedule to direct participants, etc.) for the purpose of responding to inquiries; and/or directing individuals to appropriate location in accordance with established building security procedures.
5.
Maintains reception area materials (e.g. signs, handout sheets, etc.) for the purpose of providing resource information to visitors and the public.
6.
Maintains visitor information (e.g. visitor log, passes, etc.) for the purpose of meeting building security requirements.
7.
Assists with general clerical duties (e.g. envelopes, labels; distributing materials, as requested, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring implementation of department processes.
8.
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
