RESPONSIBILITIES

Independently performs laboratory procedures for which the technologist has been trained and demonstrated competency. Independently performs laboratory testing on patients of all ages using professional knowledge of laboratory procedures, executing, interpreting and/or analyzing, in an accurate and timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent, plus a sufficient number of college and/or technical courses and clinical training to satisfy requirements for testing and certification.
• Experience: Bachelors degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or a life/biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: None required beyond education/training. Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by ASCP, AMT, or AAB according to State of Georgia regulations. Temporary classification as technologist/technician for 18 months may apply for recent movers.
• AAB provisional certification not accepted.
